Corrupting the Young Ones... OTH Style...

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

So, my friend has a son, Ben who is like 2 and a half, and he is pretty much the cutest kid like EVER!!! I have been trying to get my friend to start watching One Tree Hill and tonight, that finally happened... and where did we start but the Pilot!? Now... after a few pauses of the show because she actually has a daughter who is about a year old as well, we watched the whole first episode, and then were moving on to the second, when the littlest one needed to get put down. Leaving me alone with my favorite little man, Ben...

And so the education begins...

"We're watching the movie again, Stefnie?" (cause it doesn't break between episodes)
"No, it's a different one Ben, and it has basketball! You like basketball!"
"Baskball?? What are we watching Stefnie?"
"One Tree Hill"
"One Tree Hill?"
"Yup, it's a good show!"

He contemplates the idea for a minute, and looks at the screen where we paused on a Lucas closeup by chance...

"Who's that?"
"That's Lucas! We like Lucas!"
"Lucas?"
"Yeah..."

Realizing he was now curious, the DVD box had to be examined... of course....

"So what show is it Ben?"
"One Tree Hill!"
"Okay, and who is this?" (pointing to Lucas on the box)
"Lucas!... Hey there's two Lucases!" (since there was still the one on TV... again....smart kid)
"And this is Peyton, she's cool."
"That's Peyton!" (he says pointing to Peyton)

Then as we watch the show, he points out when the two come on screen any time, which is sooo adorable, by the way... okay, and then I love the following two moments.... first of which happened when Dan goes to visit Whitey in the second episode...

"He's Danny... He called him Danny..."
"Yer right, good job Ben!"
"Danny... Danny... Who's that?"
"That's Lucas' dad."
"Lucas?"
"Yep!"
"There's two Lucases" (still hooked on the DVD box and TV memory)

... and then here was my favorite...in class when the one word descriptions happen...

"Peyton said Choke!"
"She did, good job buddy..."
"They laugh at Peyton, was it funny?"
"yeah, it was kind of funny..."
"Peyton said funny Choke..."

The night drew on and Ben grew tired, but he could still tell us what my favorite show is... you've gotta love little kids. Anyways, I hope that you enjoyed that bit from my dad, cause it amused me lots.
